PBS Jazz Kids

Jazz celebrates America's greatest cultural achievement. Jazz has been called the purest expression of American democracy, a music built on individualism and democracy, independence and cooperation.

PBS Jazz Kids was created as an educational resource to support the use of the Jazz series and companion web site in a variety of curriculum areas.

The micro-site includes material on jazz greats, timeline, and interactive features allowing the exploration of jazz and instruments.

Online activities are designed for students in grades K-5, with accompanying lesson plans for language arts (LA), social studies (SS), music (MU), and math (MA) teachers. The lesson plans were created by veteran music teachers and authors Tara Hofmann ("Tap Your Feet", "Jazz History"and Hedi Lang (Learning through the Duke).
